The Cracker Cats

The Cracker Cats are three dynamic and entertaining young women who are bringing new creative energy to the roots music scene. With flying fingers and tight, interwoven harmonies their outstanding musical talent shines through creative charm and inspiring energy. Banjo, mandolin, and guitar in hand, they manifest a tasteful offering of alternative roots music. This modern day gypsy troupe brings a warm vibrancy to their musical performances that will surely capture your hearts and keep you on your feet for a knee slappin' boot stompin' good ol' time!

From haunting the charts, to gaining a following across western Canada, the evidence is clear that these firecrackers are about to explode all over the music scene. Their first and recently released independent album, Empty Bottles n' Broken Hearts continues gaining popularity in western Canada. Following such positive feedback, the girls are ready for round two. They plan to release and tour a new album across Canada, summer '10.

The two original members, Kamila (mandolin), and Melissa (guitar), have been developing their skills together for the past five years. Their beautifully blended harmonies and dynamic instrumentation have been dropping jaws. They teamed up with Eliza (banjo), and have been together for about a year. Eliza, being a tight picker, and having that truck load of whit and charm under her belt, fits perfectly into the mix. These ladies are more often than not, backed by a double bass and the occasional washboard. Their performances have been described as high energy, passionate, and difficult not to dance to. So, together, these modern day gypsys are bringing a new creative energy to the roots scene.

During their travels, The Cracker Cats have been capturing hearts at festivals (including The Ness Creek Music Festival, and unofficially at the North Country Fair), many pubs, halls, concerts, weddings, and the good ol' back-yard bon fire. Some accomplishments include making it to Earshot's #28 in The National Campus and Community Radio Report; being selected for Dig Your Roots' 2010 compilation; and Winning the coolest costumes, hottest harmonies and most passionate performance awards, from Spoon-Drop Entertainment. There is no end in sight for The Cracker Cats. These ladies are full of ideas and dreams, and have big plans for the future, so catch them while you can.
